Our History
Our story begins more than two decades ago. Our goal was to introduce bottled wine from Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) into the Chinese market, a milestone that at the time was uncommon in trade between both countries. Contracts were secured for the export of millions of bottles, marking the beginning of what would be a great family success.
In 2015, the family embarked on a project to distribute wines from Spain, Hungary, Italy, Argentina, and Chile globally and established itself as a key player in the Central European market, standing out as the largest wine importer in this region.
In 2016, we carried out and promoted important milestones related to the commercialisation of Argentine soybean oil in India, by finding advantages from the Mercosur-India treaty that the market was not leveraging until that time.
Between 2016 and 2022, we were responsible for over 30% of wine imports in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, during that period, more than 100 million liters of wine were exported to China and an annual average of 7,000 tons of Argentine grape must to North American markets.
In 2022, we decided to embark on a new stage; we diversified our focus into other sectors, including the beef, seafood, grains, and vegetable oils industries, with global distribution operations.
The year 2023 marked a new chapter for the group in the mining industry with the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Minas Argentinas S.A. (Gualcamayo), in San Juan, Argentina. Today, this company not only maintains gold production but is also investing in exploration for the expansion of the Deep Carbonates project and the development of new targets that have yet to be explored in Gualcamayo.
In 2024, significant renewable energy projects began in Argentina, including the acquisition of land for the development of several photovoltaic parks in Argentina with a total capacity of 800 MW. Calicanto Solar has already started the construction of its first phase in San Luis, Argentina, with a capacity of 23 MW, having aligned the land and proceeding with the installation of components by the end of the year.
In addition, in August 2024, the Cinzano property was acquired in the city of San Juan, where housing, offices, a museum, restaurants, and a shopping center will be built, contributing to the urban and tourist development of the region.
